Ukraine lacks systems for monitoring ballistic missile launches. "Iskander" missiles can travel up to 500 km, covering 50 km in just 23 seconds.

The Russians likely struck Poltava with "Iskander-M" ballistic missiles, which reach their targets within minutes.

Valeriy Riabykh, Director for development at Defense Express Media and Consulting Company, shared this information with Espreso.

Riabykh explaines that these missiles reach their targets very quickly after launch. He notes that there are few facilities in Ukraine protected by missile defense systems, and currently, the Defense Forces do not have the capability to intercept such missiles. He also mentiones that the allies are unable to provide Ukraine with the means to strike Russian territory.

The expert highlights that Ukraine does not have systems to monitor ballistic missile launches. "Iskander" missiles can travel distances of up to 500 km, with 50 km covered in just 23 seconds, and the full distance in 238 seconds. Due to the lack of specialized systems capable of detecting ballistic missile launches from the ground, Ukrainian systems can only detect the missile once it is already on a specific trajectory. This means there are only a few minutes available for evacuating people, making it difficult to organize large-scale evacuations.
