The occupiers are trying to capture Chasiv Yar.
Chasiv Yar in Donetsk region increasingly resembles the set of a horror movie rather than the bustling city it once was. Since mid-July, when the occupiers approached the Siverskyi Donets-Donbas canal, that trench has turned into a frontline of combat. The enemy is being prevented from advancing further by the soldiers of the 24th Mechanized Royal Brigade, along with other Defense Forces units. However, our defenders admit that the occupiers are constantly searching for ways and opportunities to overcome the artificial barrier.
This was reported by TSN correspondent Oleksandr Motorniy.
The Russians are destroying the cities of Donbas. The occupiers bombard everything with their guided aerial bombs, artillery and drones.
"When assaults occur, there’s heavy artillery preparation first. And FPV! Well, FPVs fly every day! Every day! It’s a usual thing: FPVs - kamikaze wings," says "Vega," an FPV drone pilot of the 24th Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The occupiers are not currently using heavy armored vehicles near Chasiv Yar.
"They mostly use motorcycles and ATVs to deliver supplies and evacuate their wounded," says "Malina."
For over a month and a half, the configuration of the frontline here has remained almost unchanged. However, the Moscow troops are not sitting idle, as the soldiers of the 24th Mechanized Brigade recount.
"They’re trying: something - somewhere - to sneak through! They’re trying to crawl in the pipes too, and we’re giving them hell there," the soldiers say.
Every day, and sometimes several times a day, the Russians try to overcome that barrier, trying to establish a foothold on the western bank of Chasiv Yar. It looks like an effort to enter the city in small groups and secure positions.
"From two to four people, sometimes they manage to hide in some building for a while until they’re driven out. And then they regroup. That is, two people enter, but six come out," says Oleh Petrasyuk, a representative of the 24th Mechanized Brigade’s press service.
In 9 out of 10 cases, the drone operators of the 24th Royal Brigade ensure that those enemy assault units are neutralized immediately near the canal.
"They stormed a trench. I guess they were told that our troops weren’t there, so they should secure the position. But they ran into our guys, and our guys gave them a good beating," says "Malina."
The Russians who manage to find shelter are sooner or later discovered and destroyed by Ukrainian drone operators with mortar crews. Or they are forced to retreat back to the eastern bank.
