Blackout in Ukraine: How Does Unbreakable Nation Survive without Power (People Grind Meat and Dry Hair at Stores)

Stores, supermarkets and other public places are becoming improvised "Indestructability Points" for Ukrainians.

Ukrainian nation is unbreakable. It cannot be intimidated with Russian missiles, network shutdown, blackouts, or interruptions with heat and water supply. Ukrainians will always find the way out of any situations, as the blackout on November 23rd and partial blackout on December 5th clearly demonstrated.

TSN.ua shares a collection of lifehacks used by Ukrainian people to deal with blackouts.

A Teacher Giving a Lesson from Nova Poshta Office

After the missile strikes against the energy facilities on November 23rd, a video appeared in the public media of a university professor giving a lecture to students at the Nova Poshta office, which had turned into an improvised “Indestructability Point” for local resident. The woman wasn't embarrassed by the visitors of the post office, as she was doing her job. As they write in the telegram channels, the footage was taken from Kharkov. The social networks users are fascinated by the teacher’s ingenuity.

A Woman Drying Hair at Supermarket

On November 24th, social media users shared a video of a woman coming to a supermarket with her own hairdryer to dry her hair. The store was full of shoppers, but the woman from Odesa was not deterred by the crowd. Other shoppers were neither embarrassed, since the whole city went into total blackout and experienced the same difficulties.

Manicure at Underground Parking lot

Even a prolonged blackout is not considered a valid reason for Ukrainian women to forget about their nails. In Odessa, a girl had her nails done in an underground parking lot. Despite the lack of power supply in the city, the manicurist found a way out and made herself a temporarily "workplace" at the underground the parking lot. The video, posted in the social media, shows a girl getting her manicure done at the improvised desk with a lamp.

A Woman from Kyiv Grining Meat for Cutlets at a Store

Vladyslav Chechetkin, the founder of ROZETKA, told about a curious incident that happened in one of the chain's stores. He said that during a blackout in Kyev, a local woman came to one of ROZETKA's distribution points and asked if she could finish grinding the meat for cutlets.

"A woman came in and said at a loss: “I don't know if I could ask you, but here's the thing…”, she took a meat grinder and meat out of her bag. “Excuse me, can I finish grinding meat, because I just started to make cutlets," Chechetkin recalled.

Two Women Drying Hair at Post Office

Some people go to Nova Poshta offices during blackouts to take care about their look. A video posted in a social media shows two women drying air right at the post office. The exact location, where the footage was filmed, is unfortunately unknown.

“Nova Poshta supports Ukrainian beauty salons. Glory to Ukraine”, a joyful woman said.
