The general assured that "the investigation results will soon be made public" regarding the F-16 crash.
General Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, stated that the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is conducting an investigation into the F-16 fighter jet crash, and promised that the findings will be shared with the public.
In an interview with CNN, Syrskyi refrained from directly answering what caused the F-16 crash, noting that an investigation is underway.
"Currently, a special commission of the Ministry of Defense is investigating the incident to determine all the facts surrounding the crash. But before that, I want to mention that the pilot, who died, had successfully shot down two missiles and was pursuing a third cruise missile using onboard weaponry when the accident occurred," the general explained.
Syrskyi also highlighted that only the best Ukrainian pilots, with proven experience in effectively operating aircraft, were selected for F-16 training.
"I believe the results of the investigation will soon be known to everyone. On one hand, we have no intention of hiding this information, and on the other hand, the effectiveness of these aircraft has been demonstrated by the successful destruction of four cruise missiles by a pair of F-16s. This will undoubtedly enhance our defense capabilities, especially in countering enemy cruise missiles," Syrskyi added.
