Zelensky warns that a change in the attention of world partners to Ukraine may lead to a loss of economic and military support, threatening the security and stability of the region.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy suggested that if Ukraine loses stability today due to a lack of aid, it will mean that Russia will most likely invade NATO countries, and then "American children will fight."
He said this in an interview with the Associated Press.
"Ukrainians understand that we also need to fight for attention to a full-scale war. We must not allow people to forget about the war here," Zelenskyy said.
According to him, such a change of focus may lead to a decrease in economic and military aid to Ukraine. Apparently attempting to allay these concerns, American and European officials continued to visit Kyiv after the start of the war in Israel on October 7.
Zelenskyy stated that he is still concerned about this change.
"You see, attention is equal to help. There will be no attention - there will be no help. We are fighting for every drop of attention. Without attention, there can be a weak position in the (US) Congress," the President said.
Speaking about the upcoming presidential and congressional campaigns in the United States, where Biden faces skepticism due to his unwavering support for Kyiv, Zelenskyy admitted that "elections are always a shock, and that's quite understandable."
It should be added that a recent AP survey in the USA showed that nearly half of Americans believe that too much money is being spent on Ukraine. The number of Republicans not supporting greater assistance is increasing, and it's unclear whether the White House request for additional aid will be approved by Congress, and if so, when.
When asked about this, Zelenskyy directly responded that "the choice of Americans is the choice of Americans." However, he added that by aiding Ukraine, Americans are also helping themselves.
"In the case of Ukraine, if resilience cannot be maintained today due to lack of aid and insufficient arms and funding, it would likely mean that Russia will likely invade NATO countries. And then American children will be at war," the President of Ukraine said.
