The occupiers hit the cities of Ukraine with various types of missiles.
On the night of April 27, the occupying Russian army hit Ukraine with various types of enemy missiles. The enemy launched a total of 34 missiles, including "Kinzhals", "Kalibrs" and aviation missiles. Ukrainian air defense managed to destroy 21 missiles.
TSN.ua has gathered details and consequences of the missile strike.
As Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, Mykola Oleshchuk told, on the night of April 27, the occupiers launched a combined missile strike on Ukraine. In total, the enemy launched 34 air, ground and sea-based missiles. The air defense system successfully destroyed 21 of them.
The Russian army targeted Ukraine with:
- 9 cruise missiles X-101/X-555 from strategic aviation aircraft Tu-95MS (launch area: Saratov region, Russia);
- 9 guided aviation missiles X-59/X-69, launched by the enemy from the airspace of Belgorod region, Russia, and from the waters of the Sea of Azov.
- 2 S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles were launched from Belgorod region;
- 4 "Iskander-K" cruise missiles attacked from the temporarily annexed Crimea;
- 4 X-47M2 "Kinzhal" aeroballistic missiles from MiG-31K aircraft (launched from the airspace of Ryazan and Tambov regions);
- 8 "Kalibr" cruise missiles were fired from the Black Sea.
Fighter aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units of the Air Force, mobile fire groups and means of radio-electronic warfare of the Defense Forces of Ukraine were involved in repelling the air attack of Russia.
The air defense forces destroyed 21 aerial targets:
- 6 X-101/X-555 cruise missiles; 8 X-59/X-69 guided air missiles;
- 1 "Iskander-K" cruise missile; 6 "Kalibr" cruise missiles.
The Russian army used a submarine to launch "Kalibrs"
Dmytro Pletenchuk, Spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces, said that during the massive attack on Ukraine on the night of April 27, the Russian army used "Kalibrs" again after a long pause. The enemy launched the cruise missiles from submarines.
"I warned that it would be submarines. At the moment, the Russians do not dare to use surface ships. In fact, this is the third use in more than six months. We confirm it," the Spokesman of Operational Command "South" said.
Critical infrastructure was the target of the attack
The occupying army of Russia struck the energy facilities of Ukraine in Dnipropetrovsk, Ivano-Frankivsk and Lviv regions, resulting in damage. According to the Minister of Energy, Herman Halushchenko, the attacks caused equipment damage. The extent of the damage is being assessed. Work on their elimination is ongoing. Additionally, a shift supervisor was injured at one of the facilities, sustaining a concussion. The Ministry of Energy adds that there are blackout schedules in Kharkiv region and Kryvyi Rih due to network restrictions. During the massive shelling, Russia attacked four thermal power plants of DTEK. Equipment was seriously damaged as a result of the shelling. Currently, energy workers are trying to eliminate the consequences of the attack. According to preliminary information, there are victims.
Hits in Lviv region
Maxim Kozytsky, Head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, reported that the Russian army launched a massive attack on Lviv region during the night of April 27, using various types of cruise missiles and "Kinzhal" aeroballistic missiles. The enemy attacked Lviv region during an air alert, which lasted from 03:58 to 06:02. Defenders of the Operational Command "West" shot down three cruise missiles. However, two critical energy infrastructure facilities were hit in Stryi and Chervonohrad districts. Fires broke out, and there is damage. According to Kozytsky, the region's life support systems are functioning normally. There are currently no reports of emergency power outages. As of now, there are no casualties, injuries or damage to residential infrastructure in Lviv region.
