The Russians aim to reach and cut off a vital road.

The Russian occupiers are advancing in three directions simultaneously.

Reserve major of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and military expert Oleksiy Hetman told this to "24 Kanal".

According to Hetman, the enemy is pressing near Chasiv Yar and trying to advance toward Toretsk. There is also a difficult situation near Ochertyne and Vozdvyzhenka, and further in the direction of the Pokrovsk – Kostiantynivka highway.

"The main objective of the Russians is to reach and cut off this vital road," the report states.

Additionally, the occupiers are trying to disrupt logistics.

"Therefore, the Russians are fighting for this railway, trying to worsen our logistics in this manner," the reserve Ukrainian Armed Forces major explained.

Hetman also noted that the Russians, acting in several directions, disperse their forces. At the same time, the Ukrainian army in such a situation also has to stretch its resources to different areas of the front.

"That's why everything depends on the number of people and equipment each side has. Whoever has less will spread their forces thinner," he explained.

The distance between Chasiv Yar and Ocheretyne is approximately 40 kilometers. According to field manuals, a division should advance on a front of this length – that is, 5-7 brigades.

"Their task is to break through the enemy's defensive line on a 3-5 kilometer stretch. This gap would allow a large amount of personnel and equipment to penetrate the enemy's rear. Therefore, the Russians are operating according to field manuals," Oleksiy Hetman said.
