The dictator distorted the meaning of one of the articles of the Ukrainian Constitution.

Ruslan Stefanchuk, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, says that until the end of the martial law, Volodymyr Zelenskyy will remain the President of Ukraine.

This is how the politician commented on the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin's statement on "Zelenskyy's illegitimacy" on his Facebook page.

"It's very good that in Russia they started reading the Constitution of Ukraine. I would recommend inquisitive readers to study the text of our Constitution comprehensively and pay attention to part 1 of article 108: "The President of Ukraine exercises his powers until the newly elected President of Ukraine takes office." In democratic societies, this is called continuity of power. But this "continuity" is not in the Russian sense (like "perpetuity"), but in a normal, democratic understanding and understanding of security," Stefanchuk emphasized.

According to him, that's why Zelenskyy is and will remain the President until the end of the martial law. In addition, the speaker of the parliament advised Russians to read their constitution.

"It's not about some imaginary foundations of democracy or human and citizen rights for Russia. But at least in that part where it is said that the Russian Federation takes measures to support and strengthen international peace and security, ensuring peaceful coexistence of states and peoples. And specifically - it's article 79.1," Stefanchuk said.

Putin's absurd statement and Zelenskyy's response The Kremlin "führer," speaking about negotiations with Kiev, expressed doubts about the legitimacy of the Ukrainian authorities. Allegedly, the answer to this question should be sought in the Constitution of Ukraine and a legal analysis should be carried out.

"Zelenskyy's legitimacy has ended, and the question of whom to negotiate with in Ukraine is not empty," Putin said.

In turn, Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to Putin's statement. The head of state emphasized that Ukrainians know their Constitution and law, and the dictator's statements are boring for adequate people.

"We understand that these statements of the illegitimate president of the Russian Federation regarding the legitimacy of the President of Ukraine, frankly speaking, are boring, uninteresting," he noted.
