Russian terrorists want to sow panic in Ukraine.
The occupiers attack Ukraine's food infrastructure. Ports and agricultural companies regularly fall victim to enemy shelling. The Russians have been using this tactic since the beginning of the war - on the one hand, to sow panic, on the other hand, to cripple the economy.
TSN correspondent Oleksandr Romaniuk told about this genocidal tactic of the enemy.
The occupiers deliberately destroyed a large warehouse in Kyiv region
The occupiers destroyed a modern warehouse in Kyiv region back in March 2022. Before the attack, there were over 65 thousand square meters of modern storage space for frozen and chilled products. Many companies stored their goods here, from where food was supplied to stores.
The complex operated even during active combat operations. Food security was extremely important at that time for both - Kyiv region and the neighboring areas.
The enemy deliberately targeted the warehouse with an "Iskander" missile. Despite this, no one was harmed.
What is the purpose of strikes on civilian infrastructure
These warehouses were not the only ones to suffer from enemy attacks at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. The occupiers attacked logistics centers, food facilities, and destroyed agricultural enterprises throughout Ukraine. Deliberately burned elevators and destroyed farms. On the one hand, it was an attempt to undermine our economy, which finances the Armed Forces. On the other hand, it aimed to create panic among the people.
"Making people press on the authorities and demand peaceful negotiations. In other words, Russia always uses such methods to destabilize," - military-political analyst of the "Information Resistance" group, Oleksandr Kovalenko says.
Food often becomes a tool of pressure and influence in the occupied territories.
"The aim is to demonstrate how much control they can exert over the situation, including food supplies. It's about selectively providing food to some and denying it to others. Because in the occupied territories, we know situations where people initially faced food shortages. And for them it was another method to support and entice people to their side," - Deputy Chairman of the “Ukrainian Agri Council”, Denys Marchuk said.
Ukrainian businesses try to recover
Ukrainian companies try to recover after the shelling. The owners of one of them said that they even took out a loan for this.
According to the Ministry of Economy, last week, entrepreneurs received over four hundred concessional loans. Since the spring of 2022, their number has exceeded 48 thousand.
However, many industries were unable to "revive." This is because Russia continues to attack the food and agricultural infrastructure in certain regions.
"Kharkiv, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, and Donetsk regions. These are key regions that continue to be subjected to the same bombardment. Unfortunately, we usually see reports after the shelling indicating that agricultural enterprises have been damaged or caught fire," - Deputy Chairman of the “Ukrainian Agri Council”, Denys Marchuk said.
Since February 2022, the losses for trade and industry alone have exceeded $173 billion. For agriculture, it's nearly $70 billion.
