The occupiers are trying to advance in Donetsk region.
Daily city battles continue in Toretsk, Donetsk region. Enemy artillery and guided aerial bombs turn the urban structure into a complete ruin. And civilians, including even children, remain in that hell until now. And this is exactly what the soldiers of the combined assault brigade "Liut" of the National Police of Ukraine acknowledge - the presence of civilians complicates their operations significantly.
However, Ukrainian forces, with precise artillery strikes and resilient infantry, have managed to slow down the enemy's advance in Toretsk.
This is stated in the story of TSN correspondent Oleksandr Motorny.
"The enemy launches its drones constantly and tries to gather intelligence on Ukrainian positions," - the soldier "Kong" says.
The soldiers of the "Dnipro 1" regiment say that last night, after non-stop enemy aerial reconnaissance, turned out to be quite difficult - the occupiers fired at the Ukrainians all the time.
Russian drones frequently conduct their own attacks, but they also assist in guiding artillery and airstrikes from Russian aircraft carrying guided aerial bombs targeting Toretsk and nearby areas. The city echoes with the sound of artillery fire and close-range firefights.
"Their artillery is firing, and the planes drop guided aerial bombs," said Yaroslav, an artillery gunner from the "Dnipro-1" regiment.
Fighting is taking place directly in the streets of Toretsk, amidst the ruins of the city. The enemy infiltrates multi-story buildings, attempting to take up positions. They are trying to accumulate forces there. As soon as we receive intelligence on enemy movements, we counteract," - says Kong.
"I was helping people in my city, responding to strikes. I worked in the patrol police in Dnipro. I knew I was going into combat, expecting it to be infantry assaults. But it turned out to be different in "Dnipro-1," said "Jin," an artillery crew member from the "Dnipro-1" regiment, part of the "Liut" Assault Brigade of the National Police of Ukraine.
The military say they are now targeting enemy infantry and also striking ammunition depots and enemy equipment.
Civilians still remain in Toretsk and nearby mining villages.
"There are still many civilians! I even heard children laughing and playing in the streets," said Yaroslav.
At the same time, Ukrainian defenders have significantly slowed the enemy's progress in Toretsk in the past week. The frontline now runs near the ruins of the city's first school, along Central Street.
