Roman Svitan emphasizes that the invaders will constantly try to seize the height of the Chasiv Yar regardless of the dates.
The Russians plan to capture Chasiv Yar by May 9. For this reason, the enemy transferred there the reserves that remained after the winter offensive.
Roman Svitan, a military expert, instructor pilot and Reserve Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, told in a report for "24 Kanal" that the occupiers are trying to dislodge our units from three sides in the area of Chasiv Yar.
Why do Russians need Chasiv Yar so much
Svitan noted that the Russian occupiers can sacrifice tens of thousands of lives in order to fulfill some "whim" to maintain "victorious" illusions. Therefore, it is not excluded that they have been tasked, among other things, with capturing this city by May 9.
However, according to the expert, the task around Chasovyi Yar is still more military, given the difficult situation of the occupiers in the Bakhmut area. Our soldiers in Chasiv Yar are located on the dominant height.
So, Svitan says, the invaders will constantly try to seize the height of the Chasiv Yar regardless of the dates.
"It is clear that carrying out such a military task for symbolism would be the most optimal option for them – specifically, by May 9", the reserve colonel noted.
Therefore, he added, all reserves left after the winter offensive have been deployed to the area of Chasiv Yar, near Bakhmut. They are trying to dislodge our units from three sides. At the same time, we have better positions in terms of elevation and certain defensive mechanisms.
