The town is totally destroyed.
The Russian Army is trying to surround Vuhledar in Donetsk Region from two sides, instead of breaking through the defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as Deputy Mayor Maksym Verbovskyi said in a commentary for Suspilne.
"The enemy counterattack started on January 21st. For eight days, the town gas benn under heavy artillery, MRLS and helicopter fire. The town is totally destroyed. 100% of the buildings are damaged, the entire infrastructure of the city is also destroyed," Verbovskyi said.
According to him, the Russians managed to advance to some outlying villages near Vuhledar. However, the Ukrainian military pushed them back to their previous positions. The Deputy Mayor describes the situation "stabilized, but difficult".
"Fighting continues every day. Everything is under control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. They still have two kilometers to go to the city to reach at least the outskirts of the city," Maksym Verbovskyi emphasized.
