President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy appealed to Presidents Joe Biden and Xi Jinping on the eve of the Peace Summit to be held in Switzerland. He emphasized that Russia is ruled by people who want to make it a norm to burn lives, destroy cities and villages, divide nations and erase national borders with war.

The video with the appeal was recorded in Kharkiv against the backdrop of the printing house, struck by Russia on May 23. It was published by the President on Telegram.

"Does Russia want dialogue? Ukraine has the world's largest experience of being deceived by Russia in negotiations. Deception that, in particular, was Russia's cover for preparing this war. That's why global efforts are needed – a Peace Summit involving leaders who cannot be deceived by Russia. Together with Switzerland, we are preparing such a summit. Its start is on June 15th. We have confirmation of participation from over 80 countries already and continue to work with leaders, inviting them to the summit. Thank you to everyone who is truly helping peace. I appeal to the world leaders who have so far stayed away from global efforts to prepare for the Peace Summit: to President Biden, the leader of the United States, to President Xi, the leader of China. We do not want the UN Charter to be burnt… burnt down just like these books. And I hope you don’t want either. Please, show your leadership in advancing the peace – the real peace and not just a pause between the strikes," the President said in his address.

The head of state emphasized that the efforts of the world majority are the best guarantee of fulfillment of obligations.

"Please, support the Peace Summit with your personal leadership and participation,"Volodymyr Zelenskyy added.
