The enemy may advance on Poltava and Kyiv: Warning from military expert

Russia is once again resorting to blackmail with the threat of a major offensive.

Russia may launch a new large-scale offensive across the entire front line if no ceasefire agreements are reached.

This was stated by Roman Svitan, a retired Ukrainian Armed Forces colonel, military expert, and flight instructor, in an interview with Kanal24.

According to him, the situation is currently at a critical balance between two scenarios.

“Two possible developments can be considered: the first is a short-term ceasefire, the second is its complete rejection. If no agreements are reached, the Russians may attempt to escalate tactical actions into large-scale offensive operations,” the expert noted.

Such attacks, according to Svitan’s forecasts, will not be deep but will span the entire front line wherever forces can be amassed. The enemy will aim to operate in a displacement mode, which could pose a serious challenge for Ukrainian defenders.

At the same time, a ceasefire could give the aggressor a chance to strengthen its reserves. Russia would use the pause to move forces closer to the front line. Among potential directions, Svitan mentioned the left bank of the Dnipro River in Zaporizhzhia region and an advance toward Poltava through Sumy region, which could also threaten Kyiv.

“We cannot allow the Russians such an operational pause, but there is currently no other path besides negotiations. We can defeat the enemy only through the quality of weapons and technology, not numbers,” Svitan concluded.
