The occupiers continue to grossly violate international law.

A video, circulating online, shows Russian soldiers mocking Ukrainian prisoners of war. This crime must be documented, and the world must respond.

This was stated by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets.

According to preliminary information, this occurred in the Kharkiv direction, where the Russians are currently trying to conduct offensive actions. The video, recorded by the Russians, shows beatings, humiliation, threats and simulated execution.

Lubinets noted that, unfortunately, such treatment of Ukrainian prisoners of war is not an exception, but a usual tactic for the occupiers. These actions violate the Geneva Conventions, which state that prisoners of war are entitled to humane treatment.

"This incident should be documented as further evidence of the Russia's violation of international humanitarian law! I have sent official letters to the ICRC and the UN to document the mistreatment. This will further supplement the evidence base for a future tribunal over the perpetrators," the ombudsman emphasized.

Russia adheres to no rules of war and unabashedly demonstrates its cruel and inhumane actions!

"The world must respond to hold Russia accountable, otherwise, the law of force will triumph over the force of law!" Lubinets concluded.
