“Today is the crucial day": the Russian invaders want to "cut off" the Lugansk region from Ukraine – The Head of the Lugansk regional state administration

If the Russians succeed in capturing the “road of life” – the Lisichansk-Bakhmut highway – the delivery of humanitarian aid and the evacuation of civilians will become impossible.

In the eastern region of Luhansk, heavy fighting is under way in the area of Rubizhne and Belogorovka. Fighting is going on practically from two sides, from Popasna and Belogorovka. This was announced by The head of the Lugansk regional state administration, Sergei Gaidai.

According to him, the highway leading to Bakhmut, Severodonetsk, Lisichansk and Bakhmut is now the only chain through which humanitarian supplies can be delivered and civilians can be evacuated.

“Yesterday, the Russian troops managed to build a crossing, build mobile pontoon crossings across the Seversky Donets River, and they began to overturn equipment, something didn’t work out for them, tanks turned over somewhere, they are still lying there in the river,” he said.

Gaidai noted that the Russians invaders still managed to smuggle some of the military equipment, and there is very heavy fighting in Belogorovka, with aviation and artillery, and mortars. A lot of fighters from both sides are working there.

“Today will be quite decisive regarding this crossing. If the Russian troops managed to gain a foothold there, then they would further develop the offensive and reach the highway and completely block the connection with the Lugansk region,” he stressed.
