Water desalination started occurring in the Black Sea after blowing up the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant - according to ecologists

The salinity of the water near Odesa is almost three times lower than normal.

As a result of blowing up the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant by the Russians, the Black Sea started to desalinate, and the salinity of the water near Odesa is almost three times lower than normal.

This information was reported by the State Environmental Inspectorate of the South-Western District.

On June 10th, experts collected samples of seawater in Odesa at Nova Dofinivka (berth 243), Lanzheron Beach, and at the 16th station of Velykiy Fontan.

According to the results of laboratory tests, in Nova Dofinivka, suspended substances were found to exceed the norm by 1.6 times, and total iron exceeded the norm by 9 times. The salinity is lower than the norm by 2.7 times.

At Lanzheron, there is an excess of total iron by 5.2 times. The salinity is lower than the norm by 2.9 times.

At the 16th station of Velykiy Fontan, suspended substances were found to exceed the norm by 1.1 times, and total iron exceeded the norm by 3.4 times. The salinity is lower than the norm by 2.9 times.
