Despite the war, there is no sector of the economy in Ukraine, that has completely disappeared.
Deputy Minister of Economy Taras Kachka emphasized that , despite the war and daily attacks by occupiers, everything is functioning, and there is no sector of the economy in Ukraine that has completely disappeared.
He shared this information in an exclusive interview with journalist Yevhen Plinsky.
Taras Kachka also mentioned the sector of the economy that has been most affected by the aggression of the Russian occupying army.
"The most affected industry nominally can be considered metallurgy, because Mariupol was the heart of Ukrainian metallurgy. "Azovstal" and "Ilyich" were two enormous plants with a port that exported products worldwide, from Egypt to Uruguay. There was demand for their products, and the industry was thriving. Now it's destroyed," the Deputy Minister said.
Taras Kachka also added that in 2022, the decline in the metallurgical industry was practically three-quarters, at 73%. But despite everything, the metallurgical industry, that suffered, continues to operate.
"We even have an increase in production, an increase in exports. Obviously, this cannot be compared with 2021, but from 2022 to 2023 there is an increase in exports at the level of about 10%," he summarized.
