Ukrainian Minister for Foreign Affairs explained that Kyiv coordinates with Chisinau all its contacts with the unrecognized Transnistria.

Kyiv maintains contact with unrecognized Transnistria through the special envoy, Paun Rogovey, and exclusively in coordination with Chisinau.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, said this in an interview with Newsmaker.

He explained that Ukraine is a participant in the Transnistrian settlement process in the "5+2" format, and therefore conducts consultations with all parties involved, including representatives from Moscow, Chisinau, and Tiraspol.

The minister noted that Paun Rogovey regularly meets with Vadim Krasnoselsky, who is de facto the leader of the Transnistrian region, but these meetings are always coordinated with Chisinau. There have not been and will not be any uncoordinated steps or initiatives on the part of Ukraine regarding Transnistria.

Dmytro Kuleba emphasizes that the current "5+2" format for resolving the Transnistrian conflict is ineffective because Russia is involved in it. According to the minister, the most effective tool would be direct dialogue between the conflicting parties in the "1+1" format, meaning negotiations and consultations between Chisinau and Tiraspol without unnecessary intermediaries.
