Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has raised questions about G20 leaders who supposedly champion democracy and respect international law.
Whether Russian criminal Volodymyr Putin will be arrested in Brazil during the G20 summit remains unclear.
Zelenskyy expressed this opinion in an interview with the Brazilian publication Metropoles. The President noted that Brazil adheres to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, which has issued an arrest warrant for the Kremlin leader.
"For instance, Brazil is a signatory to the Rome Statute and will host the G20 summit this year. And I am curious - how can Putin come and not be arrested? This is a very serious question," Zelenskyy said.
The Ukrainian President emphasized that he has questions for G20 leaders who supposedly defend democracy and respect international law.
"The arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court for Putin is, by the way, concerning children. For children. So, I also have a question for the G20 — how will they be able to sit at the table with someone who should be arrested while continuing the dialogue?" he said.
