Amid reports in Western media suggesting that the United States might officially recognize Crimea as Russian territory, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy once again clarified Ukraine’s position on the matter.
The Head of State made this statement today, April 22, in a conversation with journalists.
He assured that Ukraine will not legally recognize the occupation of Crimea, as this contradicts the Constitution.
“Ukraine will not legally recognize the occupation of Crimea. There’s nothing to talk about here. It’s beyond our Constitution. This is our territory — the territory of the Ukrainian people. We can’t just say "why not." That won’t happen. We’ve made our position clear on any occupied territory. And the Constitution of Ukraine, by its very existence, declares this. That’s all,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
