The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has noticeably changed its attitude toward Ukraine. Successful operations by Ukraine's Armed Forces on the front line and long-range strikes inside Russia were among the factors behind the shift.

That view was expressed by First Deputy Head of Ukraine's Presidential Office Serhii Kyslytsia in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

According to him, the achievements of Ukraine's military have made "a very powerful impression" on officials in Washington and have become one of the reasons for the White House's noticeable shift in position.

"What Ukraine's Armed Forces are doing today, the situation on the front line, as well as successful medium- and long-range strikes deep inside Russian territory, have made a very strong impression on the administration in Washington," Kyslytsia said.

He described Americans as a nation with a unique mindset, both on an individual level and as a people, saying they like to succeed and tend to support those who are successful.

At the same time, Kyslytsia said Moscow had spent previous years successfully promoting the narrative in the United States that Russia's capture of the rest of Donbas was only a matter of time.

"American negotiators warned us that if we could not, or did not want to, agree to the terms that were on the negotiating table, we should bear in mind that a ceasefire could eventually be dictated not by the outcome of negotiations but by the outcome of military operations. In other words, they could take Donbas, and then there would be a new set of conditions," Kyslytsia said.
