Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, reported on a substantive conversation with U.S. Secretary of State and Acting National Security Advisor to the President of the United States, Marco Rubio, which took place in The Hague.
Yermak shared this information via Telegram.
Special attention was given to preparations for the upcoming meeting between President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. leader Donald Trump.
“We discussed preparations for the upcoming meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and U.S. leader Donald Trump. We focused on the structure of the meeting, the agenda, and the key issues for discussion,” Yermak stated.
Additionally, the head of the President’s Office emphasized that Ukraine supports U.S. policy in the Middle East and the approach of resolving conflicts based on strength.
“I noted that Ukraine supports U.S. efforts to stabilize the situation in the Middle East. We also support the approach to peaceful resolution — peace through strength,” Yermak said.
The humanitarian track was also discussed, particularly the exchange of prisoners and the return of children abducted by Russia.
“We separately discussed the humanitarian track, prisoner exchanges, and the return of children abducted by Russia. I pointed out that there has been no progress yet on the issue of returning the children, as we had hoped, and U.S. assistance is needed,” he reported.
According to Yermak, prisoner exchanges were the main outcome of the negotiations in Istanbul, but that is not enough:
“The exchange of prisoners and civilians is currently the key achievement of the meetings with the Russians in Istanbul. But this is not enough, and it does not affect ending the war. Russia continues to disrupt the peace process.”
“We agreed to continue constructive cooperation,” the head of the Office of the President concluded.
