Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he sent a letter to U.S. President Donald Trump with new proposals for cooperation in the defense-industrial and trade sectors.
This was reported on the website of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
«In Rome, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who also serves as an advisor to the U.S. President on national security matters, ” the statement reads.
The Head of State thanked the United States and the entire American people for their support of Ukraine and separately expressed gratitude to the U.S. President and his team for their efforts to end the war in Ukraine.
«The President provided details about the negotiations in Istanbul and the unrealistic conditions put forward by Russia for establishing a lasting ceasefire. The low level of the Russian delegation indicated that it lacked the authority to make any decisions, ” the statement notes.
The Head of State also spoke about how Russia violated the ceasefire it had proposed. Volodymyr Zelenskyy stresses that this demonstrates Moscow’s lack of intent to end the war, which is why pressure is needed to force Russia to agree to a complete, unconditional ceasefire.
The meeting included a detailed discussion of each side’s position and further steps that could change the situation, including strong sanctions against Russia.
The President also provided an update on the current situation at the front.
«Particular attention was given to the implementation of the economic partnership agreement between Ukraine and the U.S. The Head of State noted that he sent a letter to President Trump with new proposals for cooperation in the defense-industrial and trade sectors, ” the statement concludes.
