In Ukraine, parents continued to combine traditional Ukrainian names with international and rarely used variants, demonstrating the wide variety of naming preferences in the country.

The most popular female names

In most regions of Ukraine, the most common names are Sofia, Eva, Emilia, Solomiya, Maria, Zlata, and Milana. These names remain stable favorites among parents, demonstrating a combination of classic Ukrainian tradition and popular international options.

The most popular male names

Among boys, the most popular names were Artem, Matvii, Maksym, Mark, Timofii, Oleksandr, and David. Their popularity demonstrates the steady national trend in male names that maintain a balance between traditional and modern sound.

Regional peculiarities

Differences in naming preferences are noticeable between different regions:

Western regions: Solomiya, Justyna, Ulyana, Sofia are popular names among girls, and Marko, Demian, and Matvii are popular names among boys.

Central and southern regions: Milana, Eva, Sofia, Maria, Zlata for girls and Artem, Vladislav, Bohdan, Dmytro for boys are more often chosen.

Eastern regions: Sofia, Polina, Eva, Zlata and Artem, Mark, Matviy, and Tymofiy remain the leaders, which demonstrates a tendency to follow national trends.

Big cities and international names

In large cities, more and more parents are choosing short and easy-to-pronounce international names. Among girls, these are Mia, Emma, Leah, Nicole, and among boys, Theo, Leon, Lucas, and Mark. These names are easy to pronounce in different languages and reflect globalization trends in Ukrainian names.

Rare and unique names

Along with popular names, there is a growing interest in rare and original names in Ukraine. In the second half of 2025, the following names were recorded among girls: Aviella, Teona, Sapphira, Renesmee, Noema, Yasmina, Kiara; among boys: Aeneas, Theo, Odin, Ragnar, Avenir, Silas, Zlatan. Although these names were rare, they form a vivid picture of modern naming preferences and reflect parents' desire for uniqueness.
