On Saturday, May 17, Russian forces attacked a scheduled bus. The Sumy Regional State Administration declared May 17-18 as Days of Mourning.

The Sumy Regional Military Administration reported this.

“During these days, as a sign of grief for the deceased, the national flag of Ukraine will be lowered on administrative buildings of executive authorities, local governments, enterprises, institutions, and organizations. The decree recommends canceling entertainment and concert events, sports competitions, and limiting the broadcast of entertainment programs on regional television and radio.”

It is known that the occupiers used a drone to strike a scheduled bus evacuating civilians. Nine people were killed, and seven were injured, mostly elderly women.

“Currently, local authorities are identifying some of the deceased, primarily women of retirement age. The injured have been taken to a hospital in Sumy,” said Yurii Zarko, head of the Bilopillya community.
