Situation on the Belarusian border: State Border Guard Service gives update

No military hardware or troop buildup is currently observed on the Belarusian border; however, risks persist due to Russian pressure on Minsk and recent drone activity near Ukraine's northern regions.

The border with Belarus

No concentration of military equipment, weaponry, or personnel is currently observed near Ukrainian territory along the border with Belarus. Meanwhile, Russia continues to pressure Minsk in an attempt to draw Belarus more deeply into the war against Ukraine.

The update was provided by spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Andrii Demchenko, during the national telethon.

He said the situation directly along the Ukrainian-Belarusian border remains under control.

"As of right now, we do not observe any movement of equipment, weapons, or personnel in close proximity to our border, nor do we see such a buildup," Demchenko said.

However, he stressed that risks from the Belarusian direction remain. Intelligence data indicates that Russia is actively pressuring Belarus to ensure Minsk's larger-scale involvement in the war using its own forces.

"This, of course, poses a greater risk to our country and creates the possibility of a renewed invasion from Belarusian territory," the spokesman said.

Demchenko added that Ukraine is closely monitoring whether Belarusian units themselves could become involved or whether Russia may attempt to redeploy additional troops into Belarus in order to once again use its territory as a staging ground for aggression.

He also reported increased drone activity near the border. Several days ago, Ukrainian border guards detected two reconnaissance drones flying along the border areas of the Zhytomyr and Rivne regions.

Furthermore, an attack drone crossed over from Belarusian territory overnight. According to Demchenko, it was likely a Russian drone whose flight path routed through the Belarusian section of the border.
