President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree appointing former Defense Minister Rustem Umerov as the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.
As Zelenskyy reported, they have already discussed the most critical matters.
«We discussed today with Rustem Umerov the work of the NSDC of Ukraine and the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff, as well as personal tasks in the defense and negotiation spheres,» the president’s statement reads.
Zelenskyy outlined three tasks for Umerov to fulfill:
First — continue working with partners on agreements regarding weapons. We must fully implement every agreement with our partners on arms supplies, as well as new special agreements on establishing joint productions and building factories in partner countries.
Second — analyze the status of implementation of decisions made by the NSDC and the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff, address any delays, and significantly strengthen the format of the Technology Staff. Clear coordination and full implementation of decisions in Ukraine’s defense and security sector are needed.
Third — intensify the negotiation track. The implementation of agreements from the second meeting in Istanbul is currently underway.
