The Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) on September 1 did not mention Ukraine in its final declaration.
However, Russian dictator Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov claimed that the “Ukrainian issue was discussed on the sidelines of the SCO summit,” according to Russian propaganda media.
He said that Putin discussed with many summit participants the agreements reached with Trump in Alaska.
The aide added that Putin and Trump in Alaska allegedly agreed “on next steps” regarding the war in Ukraine. The US President and the Russian dictator supposedly reached agreements building on what was developed by Trump’s special envoy Vitkoff.
As Radio Svoboda notes, on the sidelines of the summit Putin discussed the war in Ukraine with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Both Modi and Erdoğan had phone conversations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky before traveling to the summit in China.
“We highly value the efforts of China, India, and our other strategic partners aimed at facilitating the resolution of the Ukrainian crisis (the Chinese term for the full-scale war Russia is waging against Ukraine — ed.). I note that the understanding reached at the recent Russia-US meeting in Alaska, I hope, also goes in this direction, opening the way to peace in Ukraine,” the Russian dictator Putin cynically stated.
