If the ceasefire with Russia, announced by President Zelenskyy, is met with a mutual stand-down from the Russian side, Ukraine will maintain it.
This statement was issued by Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
«The truce introduced by Ukraine demonstrates our genuine desire for peace. It is not tied to specific dates for the sake of imposing ideological dogmas, but for the sake of preserving human life and restoring security. If the ceasefire declared by the president is mutual, we will extend it,» the former Defence Intelligence chief said.
In his view, this truce offers a flicker of hope—however slight—for establishing a sustainable peace.
«With this move, the president of Ukraine has proven his commitment to peace to the entire world. The next step lies with the Russian Federation. Is Moscow ready to prove that human life holds even the slightest value to them? We are closely monitoring every move of the enemy and remain ready for any development,» Budanov concluded.
