Ukraine is gradually closing in on a breakthrough, but it remains too early to say the Defense Forces have fully seized the strategic initiative, Lieutenant General Serhiy Naiev said to Novyny.LIVE.

Conditions for seizing strategic initiative

According to Naiev, achieving a strategic breakthrough directly depends on weapons supply and the regularity of strikes on military targets inside Russia.

«It is still too early to talk about strategic initiative, but we can reach this, once the breakthrough occurs. It comes down to basic military math—capabilities and assets. We need as many drones as possible, and constant strikes deep into the enemy’s operational and strategic rear. If we sustain this pressure, we will steadily edge closer to that goal,» he said.

Russian troop actions and capabilities

At the same time, the lieutenant general notes that Russia is actively working to bolster its offensive potential and scale up its military-industrial complex.
«The enemy isn’t sleeping either. They’ve expanded their defense industry and are producing their own weapons systems. They’re also replenishing personnel, ” the serviceman said.

He also clarified the exact methods the Russian command uses to replenish its army ranks and maintain control over troops in the combat zone.

«We know they use cash incentives, but there is also coercion—physical abuse directly within the units. They are quite literally driven onto our defensive positions. This is war, and I will celebrate every success of the Defense Forces,» Serhiy Naiev concluded.
