Blocking the border with Poland: the State Border Guard Service told about queues at checkpoints

The most congested checkpoint is “Yahodyn-Dorohusk.”

Trucks at the border

As of the morning of December 22, around 3,900 trucks are waiting in queues on the Polish border to enter Ukraine. The highest number of trucks, over 1,700, is observed at the “Yahodyn” checkpoint in Volyn region.

This was reported by Spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko on the air of the telethon.

The State Border Guard Service representative emphasizes that the blocking is ongoing. In fact, four directions are now blocked again: Yahodyn, Rava-Ruska, Krakowets and Shehyni.

"There is some movement, of course, on all these four routes. But it's significantly less than before the blockade started," Demchenko emphasized.

He mentioned that the slowest movement is observed at the largest infrastructure facility and route - the “Yahodyn-Dorohusk” checkpoint. Around 170 trucks crossed the border there in both directions in a day. "Only about 30 of them were heading towards Poland, the rest towards Ukraine."

Meanwhile, freight traffic is not blocked at the borders with Hungary and Slovakia. Although, as the Spokesman of the State Border Service adds, "there were days when traffic was complicated", in particular, at the "Uzhhorod" checkpoint on the border with Slovakia. However, there are minor queues at other checkpoints because due to the actions of Polish carriers, “drivers choose other directions where they could cross the border faster.”

"As of the morning, there are almost 400 freight vehicles in queues at the “Uzhhorod” checkpoint. We have over 700 trucks in the direction of the “Tysa” checkpoint on the border with Hungary. Lately, queues have also increased on the Romanian border, towards the “Porubne” checkpoint. As of the morning, there are 900 freight vehicles in queues waiting to cross the border. Traffic is moving, but, of course, there are queues," Demchenko summarized.
