Combat actions are intensifying: Lieutenant General assesses the situation at the front
In particular, the situation has worsened in the area of Sumy region, Kursk region, and Belgorod region.
Situation at the front
Currently, an intensification of combat actions is being recorded along the entire front line. This is the beginning of a stage of more large-scale offensive actions. As for the enemy’s advance, these are tactical-level actions.
Lieutenant General Ihor Romanenko, founder of the “Close the Sky over Ukraine” Charitable Foundation and former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this on the air of the “Espreso” TV channel.
“The enemy has pushed out part of the units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces from Kursk region, entered Sumy region, and is trying to form a so-called buffer zone. At the same time, with a raid into the Belgorod region, the Ukrainian Defense Forces managed to disperse the forces the enemy was trying to transfer to the Pokrovsk direction,” he says.
According to Romanenko, part of those forces were directed by the Russians to Belgorod region, and another part was still transferred to the Pokrovsk direction with the aim of further advance. Currently, the enemy does not yet have sufficient resources, but in order to cut or influence logistical routes, they are carrying out corresponding offensive actions. They are not succeeding quickly.
“Fighting for Pokrovsk has been ongoing for more than half a year. In this regard, Putin together with Trump are in a hurry, as they are in time trouble. Trump has 100 days left until May 1, and Putin is preparing for May 9. The Easter deadlines have already not been met, but Putin has intensified combat actions.
American plans in this regard have been disrupted. Therefore, the enemy is trying to advance in the direction of Dnipropetrovsk region. Our units are holding the defense around Kostiantynivka and are repelling the occupiers,” Romanenko emphasizes.
The lieutenant general also adds that the situation has worsened in the Kharkiv region as well. Fighting continues near Vovchansk, but the enemy cannot advance. The enemy is more active around Kupiansk. In the Zaporizhzhia direction, fighting also continues in several areas; the enemy has certain tactical advances.
“We see that the stage of intensification of combat actions continues, which General Syrskyi had warned about,” Romanenko summarizes.
