Drone wars: Ukrainian Armed Forces vs. occupiers - who holds the kiill zone?

In the so-called "kill zone," the deployment of various UAV types has reached a stalemate, with Ukrainian defenders and Russian forces now operating at near-parity.

Russia’s undisputed drone supremacy on the front lines has evaporated. Viktor Trehubov, spokesman for the Joint Forces Group, detailed how Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces managed not only to close the gap but to pivot toward systematically dismantling the enemy’s deep logistics, 24 Kanal reports.

Ukraine has radically scaled its defense-industrial capacity since the start of the full-scale invasion. The days of Russian aerial dominance are over, shifted by a combination of strategic factors and rapid innovation.

The deployment of drones in the heat of battle—the so-called "kill zone"—is particularly telling, with UAV usage has reached near-parity between Ukrainian forces and the enemy.

Trehubov emphasized that over the past few months, Ukraine has built a robust drone infrastructure, leading to a significant surge in operational efficiency.

"UAVs are no longer just for neutralizing enemy infantry; they are being deployed to gut Russian logistics deep behind the lines," the spokesman stated.

He explained that Ukrainian forces learned from the invaders, adopting the very same tactics the enemy once used so effectively. In the end, Ukraine managed to turn those methods around.

On several fronts, Ukrainian troops have already gained the upper edge, outperforming the enemy in drone warfare.

"Our Unmanned Systems Forces are now better structured. This gives us real control over the kill zone," Trehubov noted.
