In Russia-Controlled Skadovsk, the Invaders Are Coercing Local Teachers and Implementing Russian Educational Programs
In the temporarily controlled areas of Ukraine, the Russian invaders attempt to install the new order. The invasion authorities ruthless change the usual routine as they deem fit.
In the seized city of Skadovsk, Kherson Region, the Russians are going to completely change the secondary education system and force the schools to switch to the Russian educational programs, as Oleksandr Yakovlev, the Mayor of Skadovsk, said in his Facebook post.
Although according to him, by now all school principals in the city have refused to cooperate with the invaders. Instead, when the schools buildings have been seized by the enemy troops, the schools have switched to the remote education according to the Ukrainian curriculum.
"Technical staff and faculty members are not obliged to go the seized buildings and follow the orders of new principals appointed by the invasion government, since the authorized and lawful principle does not manage the educational activities at these buildings anymore”, Yakovlev emphasized.
He also added that all teachers continued to receive the salaries from Ukrainian governments. Meanwhile, those who agreed to cooperate with the invaders, were automatically dismissed and stopped receiving any payments from the Ukrainian budget.
The situation will likely remain stable at least until the beginning of the new school year. "It is clear that the invasion authorities cannot organize the education process according to Ukrainian laws, and it is also impossible for children to continue the education under the laws of the Russian Federation. It is obvious that any educational establishments governed by the Russian law will not be funded from Ukrainian public and community budget, and soon will likely be cut off from power supply, gas supply and other utilities”, Yakovlev said.
