Major Ukrainian city prepares for all-around defense
The military says these are preemptive measures designed to shatter any Russian illusions about a potential landing operation in the region.
Fortification construction around Odesa
Odesa is preparing for an all-around defense to thwart enemy plans. Massive fortification networks, including anti-tank ditches and "dragon's teeth," are nearing completion around the city.
The regional command of Ukraine’s "South" Territorial Defense Forces announced the move.
"Odesa is preparing for an all-around defense!" the statement reads.
Kilometers of anti-tank ditches and bunkers are being finalized on the city's outskirts. Crews are also laying down razor wire, "dragon's teeth" barricades, and wire entanglements.
Military officials stress that the construction is not a mere show of force, but a proactive strategy to eliminate any illusion Moscow might have about launching an amphibious or airborne assault.
"A reliable defense doesn't increase, but reduces the risk of the enemy pushing here in the foreseeable future," the Territorial Defense Forces stated.
