Russian troops exploited the “Easter Truce” announced by Vladimir Putin to improve their tactical positions — particularly in the Lyman direction — and launched a large-scale infantry offensive immediately after the truce formally ended on April 21.
This was reported by Anastasiia Blyshchyk, spokesperson for the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Mstyslav the Brave, during a broadcast on Suspilne.News.
“In reality, this so-called "truce" caused us more harm,” Blyshchyk said. “Immediately after the ceasefire was announced, our positions came under intense artillery fire. The enemy also actively used attack drones and launched an infantry assault on one of our mechanized battalions.”
According to her, Russian forces used the "truce" period to move infantry closer to the front line, bringing weapons such as grenade launchers and machine guns.
Aerial reconnaissance by the 66th Mechanized Brigade detected over 120 Russian soldiers dispersed across tree lines, forest belts, ruined buildings, and dugouts."
“As soon as the "truce" ended, they launched a massive infantry assault,” she added.
