The use of a new "Geranium-5" unmanned aerial vehicle was recorded during attacks on Ukraine in early 2026, Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence said.

According to intelligence officials, the drone is approximately 6 metres long with a wingspan of up to 5.5 metres. Unlike earlier "Geranium" variants, the aircraft is designed with a conventional aerodynamic layout.

At the same time, most of the key assemblies and components are unified with other models in the same series.

In particular, investigators confirmed the use of a 12-channel Kometa satellite navigation system, a tracker based on a Raspberry microcomputer, 3G/4G modems, and a Telefly jet engine — similar to the one used on the "Geranium-3" UAV but with higher thrust.

The warhead weighs about 90 kg, and the stated strike range is approximately 1,000 km.

“This UAV can hardly be considered a domestic development of the Russian Federation. Significant structural and technological similarities with the Iranian "Karrar" drone have been identified,” the agency said.
