Russian army is focusing its main efforts on Sumy. On this part of the front, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have not only stopped the enemy’s advance but have also launched a counterattack.

This was reported by military analyst Denys Popovych on the TV channel FREEDOM.

According to him, the Russian offensive in Zaporizhzhia region is tactical in nature. This direction is not a priority for them, unlike Sumy region.

Popovych commented on the statement by Petro Andriushchenko, Head of the Center for Occupation Studies, about Russia transferring manpower from the Zaporizhzhia direction via Mariupol and the likelihood that they will end up in Sumy region. The expert emphasizes that this situation is not surprising, as on the Sumy direction the Ukrainian Armed Forces have not only managed to stop the enemy but also started counterattacks.

«The Russian army’s task is to create a „buffer zone“ [in the Sumy direction], approach Sumy, and put it under fire control. This objective is moving farther away due to our counterattacks. They need to stabilize the situation, so they are sending reinforcements there. We are moving to counterattacks, threatening the enemy’s ability to complete their tasks. The enemy is trying to stop this threat and return to offensive actions, ” the analyst explains.
