Russia is deploying a combined military grouping of up to 640,000 personnel in its war against Ukraine.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi shared this information during a video conference address at the Ukraine-NATO Council meeting at the level of commanders-in-chief.

“I briefly reported on the operational situation. We are striving for a just peace, but currently, active combat operations continue along a front line spanning approximately 1,100 km,” he said.

Despite diplomatic calls, Syrskyi notes, Russia has not abandoned its battlefield objectives.

“Moscow has turned its aggression against Ukraine into a war of attrition and is deploying a combined military grouping totaling up to 640,000 personnel. Our warriors continue to conduct an effective defensive operation, inflicting significant losses on the enemy,” Syrskyi reported.

In his address to the Ukraine-NATO Council participants, he raised the issue of the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ needs for military equipment, weapons, and logistics.

Syrskyi also separately thanked the Alliance for the work of the NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU) mission.
