The Kremlin will not voluntarily relinquish annexed lands, but there is a scenario under which Ukraine could restore its 1991 borders.
This opinion was expressed by an intelligence officer from the "Timur" special unit of Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence, known by the call sign "Pika," as reported by 24 Kanal.
The officer noted that the scenario in which Russia willingly returns Ukrainian territories is highly unrealistic. However, he sees Ukraine's victory only with the reclamation of occupied territories.
"There is a second, more realistic option — the internal collapse of Russia. After that, the return of territories will follow. Let them (Russians — ed.) negotiate with our government to restore Ukraine’s territory. I believe this is inevitable. They must restore everything, rebuild all cities and villages," the officer stated.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine would be able to reclaim all territories occupied by Russia when Russia is weakened.
"Russia violated our sovereignty, and therefore, at the moment when Russia is weak — and it will be, undoubtedly — everything will be returned," Zelenskyy said.
The President also stressed that Ukraine will not trade its territories for peace, as demanded by the Russian side.
