Why Putin pushes a May 9 «ceasefire»: Expert exposes dictator’s real plan

The proposed truce is aimed at propaganda and does not signal any real willingness by Russia to stop the fighting.

Russia’s proposed «ceasefire» for May 9 is intended to move troops into the so-called gray zone and build up military supplies, Ukrainian Volunteer Army spokesman Serhii Bratchuk warned on Kyiv24.

«This step is not about peace, but about preparing for new attacks. Russia is using the pause to rotate forces and strengthen positions closer to the frontline. At the same time, the Russians are building up missile and drone stockpiles in order to continue active operations later, ” he said.

According to Bratchuk, the so-called ceasefire also serves an informational purpose: creating the illusion for the Russian public that Moscow is supposedly ready for peace while shifting the blame onto Ukraine. The message is simple: Russia is allegedly ready for silence, while Ukraine is not.
