Information has begun surfacing online claiming that terror attacks are allegedly being planned in Ukraine’s streets, supermarkets, and other crowded public spaces. The reports suggest that businesses are consequently receiving mass instructions on how to handle emergency situations.
TSN.ua reached out to the Main Department of the National Police in Kyiv to verify whether these claims are true.
Capital law enforcement officials dismissed the rumors of a mass terror threat, noting that there is absolutely no evidence to support such claims.
«No, we do not have any such information,» the police told TSN.ua.
It is worth noting that the authors of these messages reference a past incident in Kyiv where a man opened fire on people directly in the street. They draw comparisons between that event and the current situation, claiming that businesses are already being prepared for similar scenarios.
The Security Service of Ukraine suggested that these rumors were yet another Russian psychological operation (PSYOP). Officials state that Russians are intentionally sowing panic and attempting to destabilize the country by capitalizing on high-profile crimes.
Consequently, Ukrainians are urged to trust only official sources and refrain from spreading fake news.
