The NSDC has commented on Russian dictator Putin’s initiative to declare a truce for May 9.
Andriy Kovalenko, Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the NSDC, expressed his opinion on the matter.
He believes the dictator is simply worried that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will strike deep into the Russian Federation specifically on May 9, when parades marking the end of the German-Soviet war are scheduled.
According to Kovalenko, Russia’s initiative to «cease fire for 24 hours» by May 9 is purely pragmatic. Putin is trying to pass this off as a «gesture of goodwill,» while in reality, he is simply afraid for his own safety during the holiday events.
«It is ridiculous and has nothing at all to do with bringing the end of the war closer. Let him just end the war, stop the fire—and that’s it. But no, he is worried about his propaganda event because he is unable to guarantee any security even in Moscow. And they are trying to pass this off as a Russian favor. End the war, murderers,» Kovalenko concluded.
