President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the negotiation process with international partners and discussions on possible approaches to a peaceful settlement are ongoing, highlighting three of the most complex yet critical topics.

Zelenskyy made the remarks during a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron on December 1.

According to the President, the territorial issue remains the «most difficult, ” while finance and reconstruction also pose major challenges, since decisions cannot be made without European partners, who control the necessary resources.

Zelenskyy pointed to security guarantees as another crucial issue, saying Ukraine expects clear, concrete positions from the US and European states.

«The territorial issue is the toughest. Finance and reconstruction are difficult to resolve without European partners. And security guarantees — we need solid, specific commitments from the US and Europe. We must be very careful, but the plan looks better, ” he added.

The President stressed that negotiators are continuing their work.

«The discussion lasted six and a half hours, covering territorial matters and other areas. US negotiators shared their views and plan to communicate them to Russia. We are getting complete feedback from our delegation, ” he said.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukrainian representatives will arrive in Ireland on December 2 to report on the current state of the negotiations. The US is meanwhile waiting for Moscow’s reaction to the proposals.

The President emphasized that after exchanging positions, the parties will be able to understand «roughly where we stand» in the process. At the same time, he called for maximum caution at all stages of the discussions.
