Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that Russian claims of a supposed strike on Putin’s residence are intentional fabrications.
He posted about this on X.
Sybiha says that Moscow is laying the informational foundation for new attacks on Ukraine and attempting to hinder diplomatic initiatives. The Foreign Minister stressed that the Russian side is using fictitious threats as a shield for its aggression.
«Russian manipulations regarding the so-called „attempted attack on Putin’s residence“ have been fabricated with one goal: to provide a pretext and false justification for further Russian strikes on Ukraine, as well as to undermine and hinder the peace process, ” Sybiha said.
He added that such behavior is «typical Russian tactics, ” which consist of „blaming the other side for what you yourself are doing or planning.“ Sybiha presented clear arguments separating Ukraine’s lawful defense from Russia’s war crimes. He reminded that Russia itself attacks government districts, while Kyiv acts within international law.
«Ukraine strikes only legitimate military targets on Russian territory in response to Russian attacks on Ukraine. Russia is the aggressor, and Ukraine is a country that has been attacked and is defending itself under Article 51 of the UN Charter, ” the minister stressed.
He also cautioned international partners against drawing parallels between the actions of the victim and the aggressor: «There can be no false equivalence between the aggressor and a country that is defending itself.»
Sybiga confirmed that, despite Russian disinformation, Ukraine remains committed to peace initiatives under U.S. leadership and with the participation of European partners.
«We urge the world to condemn Russia’s provocative statements intended to derail the constructive peace process, ” the Foreign Minister summarized.
