The next trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the United States and aggressor Russia will take place as planned in the United Arab Emirates next week, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his traditional evening video address on February 1.

«There was a report from our negotiating team. There is already an agreement on a meeting — a trilateral one — at the appropriate level. This meeting will take place next week, as planned, on Wednesday and Thursday. In the Emirates, as last time, ” the Head of State said.

Zelenskyy has received a briefing from National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, who leads Ukraine’s negotiating team. He said the Ukrainian delegation would be travelling to the talks on Monday evening.

«Many leaders and many countries are supporting Ukraine in this process, and we are coordinating virtually every day. February will be a period of fairly intense foreign policy activity for us, and starting tomorrow there will be contacts and meetings, ” Zelenskyy said.

The president said the effectiveness of the talks would largely depend on the stance of the United States.

«We expect the US side to be equally active, particularly on de-escalation measures, including reducing strikes. Much will depend on what the US side manages to achieve so that people trust both the process and its outcomes, ” he said.
