Zelenskyy comments on strange situation with Russian «memorandum»
The Ukrainian President suggests that Moscow has «lost the habit of diplomacy.»
Two days before the planned Russian-Ukrainian meeting in Istanbul on June 2, neither Ukraine nor Türkiye has any information about the contents of the so-called Russian «memorandum,» in which the aggressor state is supposed to outline its proposals for a peaceful resolution.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in his address on Friday, June 30.
«Currently, neither we in Ukraine nor Türkiye, as the host country, have any information about Russia’s so-called „memorandum.“ For some reason, the Russians are concealing this document. Frankly speaking, this is an absolutely bizarre position. There is no clarity about the format,» he said.
The Ukrainian President suggests that Moscow has «completely lost the habit of diplomacy.»
«They keep doing things to prove that they are the most inadequate actor in the world. But that is precisely what convinces everyone that new pressure is needed — pressure on Russia,» he emphasized.
Zelenskyy also mentioned that he had a scheduled conversation today with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
«We are trying to add real substance to a potential meeting. Not a single day must be lost, because every day of Russia undermining diplomacy costs human lives,» he concluded.
