The conversation between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has changed nothing.
This was stated by Mykhailo Podolyak, Adviser to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
"Unfortunately, after the Trump/Putin phone call, the status quo remains unchanged. Ukraine, as before, offers the only realistic way out of the war: through an immediate and unconditional ceasefire — comprehensive, lasting, and mandatory," he emphasized.
According to him, Europe fully supports Ukraine in this, as it "clearly understands all the risks posed both by the war itself and its delayed consequences."
On the other hand, the United States, Podolyak notes, "still remains a global mediator that continues to believe Russia is capable of making deals and willing to end the war for the sake of business/interests."
"There is Russia’s unchanged position, which, as before, seeks war, destruction, and killings, because it considers them the only way its current state can exist. There is Russia, which is unwilling and categorically refuses to cease fire. And there is this obsessive tendency to “search for and eliminate the root causes of the war,” even though the only true cause is the mere fact of Russia’s unprovoked aggression," the adviser to the head of the Office of the President says.
