On July 3, Kyiv recorded a temporary deterioration in air quality due to high heat, ground-level ozone buildup, and the aftermath of fires sparked by a Russian attack.

Air quality in Kyiv has worsened, with the index exceeding normal levels in some districts, the Kyiv City State Administration reported. Authorities advise residents to keep windows closed and limit time outdoors.
"As of 09:30 a.m., elevated concentrations of ground-level ozone and particulate matter have been recorded. This is caused by intense heat, stagnant air, and fires resulting from the Russian strike overnight into July 2," officials stated.
The situation is most critical in specific parts of the city, where the air quality index has spiked to 190, reaching the "red" harmful pollution threshold.
